HOMEWORK AND ANNOUNCEMENTS, WEEK 48, Part 2

HOMEWORK:

You saw the words from yesterday... test NEXT FRIDAY (see previous blog about the test)

MATH: DIAGNOSTIC TEST STUDY GUIDE: TEST NEXT THURSDAY...
The kids have 3 pages of "study guide", a "sammanfattning" of the past 3 chapters we've done in the book...
They are to go through the guide, making sure they understand, fully ,each topic (some of the kids have specific questions to answer from today's math group)

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

During our art class, we've been discussing the age-old cliche: What is art? What makes something art?
The kids themselves, under their own auspices,  have built 2 contradictory camps:
Camp 1: Art is anything made by anyone that opens the mind and makes you think...
Camp 2: Art is an expression of perfection and beauty, and takes years of training and practice to master...

Hhhmmm.
I thought I'd take them to this.

They're in the process of creating challenging questions for our tour guide, and they really want to know why turning a toilet upside down is considered art!

We'll be going next friday, the 7th, leaving at 9:30. A packed lunch is needed.

And then, as a juxtaposition:

Our class is also learning how to draw STILL LIFE: as a series of shapes, shades, lines and colors, NOT as a representation of what they think the object is (I always say: draw some lines and shapes, not a jug of water!)

So, to see how the masters go about it, we are taking a tour of the National Museum with an emphasis on still life, portraits, and landscapes, to see how color, shapes, and shading is used to represent a real thing. They will then have an hour of hands-on creation in the museum's art lab!

Friday, December 14th, same times, packed lunch!

OK! Have a good snowy weekend!
