Excellent First Week!

Things have been really great here in the classroom since the start of school last Wednesday!
That is  to say, everything except the schedule problems :(


BUT! I've finally got an answer from Matteus Skola regarding hemkunskap...

Hemkunskap: Mondays, after music, from 13:30 (10 minute walk to Matteus) to 16:00... Students will leave for home from Matteus at 16:00!!


"Languages" are back on track: All language teachers will be here on Friday, so back to the regular schedule!


That being said, all is well otherwise. Here's a bit of info about each subject:

English:

We've been working on the Persuasive Essay and Argumentative Text

As a start, we held a class debate, arguing the question "Should we have dessert after school lunch?"...

Believe it or not, most kids wanted to be in the "No" group. Hhmm?

I chose groups randomly... and we went over certain techniques and learned certain phrases that could be used beneficially in a debate... we also held a discussion on Debate Etiquette...

I will give the first Homework Assignment tomorrow, based on the results of this debate (a persuasive essay will be written ;)

Math:

Review and Re-learning of Short Division... making own flashcards to practice the method...

SO:

Democracy around the world:

What is democracy?

What countries on Earth are considered democracies? Why?

We're using several comaparative maps from several NGOs and UN agencies, and comparing data/statistics regarding democracy around the world... (so, we're learning about the neutrality of sources and how data is collected/selected)

HagaDag: Running in the Park!

Next Wednesday the 3rd... Here's a copy of the letter the teachers received. Kids will come to school regular time, with a packed lunch and running shoes/clothing

HAGADAGEN

Onsdagen den 3 september genomförs den klassiska Hagadagen i Hagaparken. Vi möts nere vid starten i Hagaparken ca kl. 09.00 med beräknad avslutning klockan 13.00. Respektive klasslärare/fritidspersonal går med sin klass ner till Hagaparken tillsammans med sin fadderklass.

Aktivitet:  Lågstadiet (år 1, 2 & 3) är först ut med löpning och kommer att starta ca 09.30 och därefter mellanstadiet (år 4, 5 & 6) ca 10.30. Prisutdelning strax innan kl. 13.

Banan eleverna springer är 1 km lång. Lågstadieeleverna springer ett varv och mellanstadiet två.

OBS! Klassläraren står vid målet och räknar när fem stycken från hans/hennes klass kommit i mål. Den klass som först har fem stycken elever i mål vinner guldskon! Glöm inte att ropa klassens namn när alla 5 är inne!

Lunch:        Medtag egen matsäck, dryck och något varmt att sitta på. Tänk på att ta med tillräckligt med vatten eftersom man kommer att bli törstig efter att ha sprungit Hagaloppet.

Kläder:       Ev. regnkläder, sköna skor att springa i samt något varmt att ha efter man har sprungit.

Övrigt:       Om klasslärarna behöver låna utrustning för att ordna aktiviteter vänligen kontakta idrottslärarna.
