Summary of The Week

English

To Kill A Mockingbird Pre-Reading lesson... as there's so much history that needs to be basically understood throughout the entire book, we started with some lessons on the origins of the US South.

One who reads the book and does not understand the foundations for the racism/poverty/inequality that existed during that time period will really not get the full picture.

Our class covered:

The Triangular slave trade

The Civil War

Jim Crow Laws

The Great Depression (next week)

Poverty Web Quest: peer review. The kids had a chance to evaluate each others' papers and give advice for improvement...
